ep1On the 20/1/2018, the European Parliament Information Office in Greece, the Laboratory of Educational Policy, Research, Development and Inter-University Cooperation of the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus and the Department of Educational TV of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs co-organized a training seminar for the teachers of the Schools Ambassador and Candidate School Ambassadors for 2018, in Thessaloniki.

During the seminar, Mrs Maria Spyraki, Member of the European Parliament, delivered her greetings, as well as Mr. Dimitris Papadimoulis, Vice-President of the European Parliament, through a video message. The main speakers of the seminar were Mr. Leonidas Antonakopoulos, head of the European Parliament Information Office in Greece, Dr. Foteini Asderaki, Assistant Professor of the Department of International & European Studies of the University of Piraeus and Jean Monnet Chair on “European Union’s Education, Training, Research and Innovation Policies”, Dr Charis Kountouros, Public Relations Manager at the Office of the European Parliament in Greece, Dr. Sofia Papadimitriou, Head of the Educational TV of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs and Ms. Eleftheria Markozani, PhD candidate at the Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus. Within the framework of the training seminar, some good practices of the Schools-Ambassadors were presented and 19 Schools Ambassadors of the North Greece, which participated in the program in 2017, were awarded.

The Program (EPAS) is addressed to School Teachers and High School students and aims to encourage young people, especially students of the secondary education and of technical education, to understand their rights as European citizens, to get to know the role and the responsibilities of the European Parliament and to understand how they can better participate in shaping public life and in consolidating political democracy in the European Union.
